Auxcomm – Auxiliary Communications is a Program Developed to Provide Skilled Volunteers for Emergency Management Organizations

An AUXC position has recently been added to the National Incident Management System (NIMS): Information and Communications Technology Branch.  The AUXC serves under the Incident Communications Center Manager or the Communications Unit Leader. The AUXC is responsible for installing appropriate/approved auxiliary communications equipment per discussion with the COML or INCM; testing all components of auxiliary communications equipment to ensure systems are operational; operating auxiliary communications equipment for voice and data communications; establishing auxiliary communications area(s) of operation; and interacting and coordinating with appropriate auxiliary communications operational personnel.

The AUXC certification is proof of the skill and competence of the Amateur Radio Volunteer.
